News and Press Releases

We would like to express our complete shock and sadness after hearing of the Christchurch Mosque shootings and completely condemn all extremist ideas and ideologies that cause suffering, harm or death to innocent lives.

We offer our deepest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families affected by the attacks and ask God to keep them in His Protection against further harm.

In making this statement we are cautious to allow these types of events to strike fear or panic into the heart of our communities, however we do advise that our communities be more vigilant today while attending Friday prayer. We have complete confidence in Police Scotland to ensure safety in our communities and will be continuing to liaise with them in relation to community safety. For now, it is business as usual at Edinburgh Central Mosque and there will be no change to any of our services throughout the day.

Finally, it should go without saying, that terrorism has no religion and we must all come together in the face of it. We are humbled, and so grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have already received today from the wider Scottish community. Scotland has always been a beautifully welcoming country and we are proud to be here.
